I'm not usually in the habit of developing crushes on aging male-to-female transsexuals, but...
Judy Kaye as Anna Madrigal in the Tales of the City
musical playing now in the A.C.T. Theater made it happen for me.
The rest of the show was uneven in quality at best, and the plotting did not suit the musical theater medium. I worry too that the show will not have any momentum outside of San Francisco. Yet every scene where Kaye sang in her rich, resonant alto was magical.
I must admit I fell in love a little bit. XD
To think that this woman was also Carlotta in the original Broadway cast of Phantom
? I mean, wow
