Of course, no one ever mentions New Jersey's highly-educated workforce, liberalism, affluence, or cultural diversity. Oh, and despite Jon Stewart's ironic babbling, we've actually got the best public schools in the nation (in case you were wondering who takes the blame credit for eggheads like myself).

I don't let NJ's reputation bother me, though, as I didn't grow up here. I grew up in upstate New York.

I think NJ's rep makes for great comedy--and I was raised in the state!

And in all seriousness, the rep obscures the state's cosmopolitanism. I've only recently become conscious of how high my living standards and expectations really are... *winces*

Sadly, by American standards, NJ Transit is actually extremely well-developed. It might even be the best-developed state public transit system in the entire U.S. (Depressing, huh?)
