Reviews'n Stuff.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I've got another reviewing gig with Graphic Novel Reporter. The following six reviews just went live today at the site:

Manga:Graphic Novel:
Bamboo, Sara, and I also have a new roundtable up at Anime News Network today. It's one long teardown of a Sakuracon commercial, and I got to grind one of my favorite "minority relations" axes:

I'd been on the fence about whether to try Fairy Cube or pick up some Aya Kanno stuff, but I think I'll give em a shot now, thanks. ^_^

Now on to wade through the 8 pages (will probably be 9 by the time I get through them) of CoA forum posts...

Read Yuki Kaori before Kanno Aya, definitely. ^_~

Well, I've already plowed through Angel Sanctuary (even the mediocre OVA that Media Blasters put out some years back). It was good (gorgeous art), but hard to follow (too many characters, I agree) at times because I was reading it as the volumes were being released, so it was months between them (and I have a terrible memory). Godchild left me sort of bored by the end. I think the story got stretched out just a little too much. I think I read somewhere that Kaori Yuki stopped in the middle of Godchild (the Cain Saga books) to do AS and then came back to finish Godchild after the fact. Maybe if she'd kept at it throughout it wouldn't have felt like a lot of rehashing through half of it.

As for Aya Kanno, I was eyeing Otomen in Borders a couple weeks ago, but opted not to try it out at the time since I didn't have a coupon (I likes me some Borders coupons). I think I'll get some of her stuff when I can get a discount on it (maybe use my Club 555 at JustManga for it or something).

She stopped in the middle of the books that are collectively known as the Cain Saga. Godchild was started after she finished Angel Sanctuary.

As for Otomen, I'm fast becoming disappointed with it.

Oh yeah. I gave my copies of Otomen to Book Off so I could have some extra cash with me when I moved for school. God, the story went bad real fast.
