"In the city of my birth, I had a dream..."
Conference/convention schedule through the end of the year.
26th-Aug-2008 01:59 pm
I have firm plans to put in an appearance at the following five events. (Yes, my fall schedule will be brutal.) Three of them are academic conferences, and I will be presenting an academic paper at each. Two are fan/industry conventions, and I doubt I will be doing anything in an official capacity. Either way, if you are going to be at any, please drop me a line and let me know! Comments are screened in case you wish to leave me your contact information.
  • New York Anime Festival, Sept. 26-28; New York, NY
  • New York State Communication Association (NYSCA) 66th Annual Conference, Oct. 17-19; Kerhonkson, NY
(group paper presentation "Issues in Social Interactions and Process: Gender & Cultural Differences")
  • Sixth International Conference on the Book, Oct. 25-27; Washington, D.C.
(paper presentation "Paratexts in Translation: Reinterpreting 'Manga' for the United States")
  • MangaNEXT, Oct. 31-Nov. 2; Somerset, NJ
  • NYU Standards & Practices Graduate Conference, Nov. 14; New York, NY
(paper presentation "Sizing Up Manga: When Standardization Destabilizes Definition")

I'll be at Manga Next again this year (we missed eachother last year).
I've signed up to run a panel called Obscure Manga, so hopefully they'll let me run it ^^;;; I should also be stuck at an art table, so feel free to say hi ^^

Yeah, I looked for you, but I couldn't find you there last year. I guess I fail at serendipitous meetings. T_T Do you have a cell? Give me your number here (the comment will be screened automatically, so it won't be visible to anyone else), and I'll text you from mine. Actually planning to meet ought to net better results. ^_~

No. Cosplay/cosplay photos aren't my thing.
