"In the city of my birth, I had a dream..."
So tired. Too tired to write reviews for this LJ.

But since I've been reading a lot of manga lately, I might as well toss out a few quick thoughts:

Berserk Vols. 15-20: Still the best manga series Dark Horse has on offer, hands down. Loved the denouement of the lost children storyline, which was funny, frightening, and poignant in equal measure. Loved the eroguro. (Yeah, I'm sick; at least I admit it.) And I can't wait to get Griffith back. XD

Death Note Vols. 10-12: Yet another Weekly Shounen Jump series that outlasted its welcome. I was reading it back when I was in college during its original Japanese run, then got disgusted and lost interest after the first story arc did not end the series. Since it's been released in English, I've come back to it sporadically, but it just doesn't wow me anymore. That Light ends up utterly abject and dead is no surprise--but it should have happened after the first story arc's finely-crafted descent into the abyss, not an infuriating number of volumes and how many lame story arcs? afterwards.

MPD-Psycho Vols. 2-3: Hmm. Well, on the plus side, Vol. 2 dialed down the misogyny. But on the minus side, Vol. 3 dialed down the plot development to a snail's crawl. Now I'm not sure the series is worth it anymore, period. Way to go, Otsuka.

I agree about Death Note. I was quite interested in the beginning, and I seriously thought it would end with an amazing final showdown between Light and L. But no.

If you watch the live-action movies, you'll be satisfied. It ends the way it SHOULD have ended in the manga. [Think: the book Wicked is disgusting, but the musical is not. =P]

And it seems they made a spin-off movie of L, showcasing his last days... At least, that's as much of the tiny writing I could get off from the ad insert of my Otomen manga [a guilty pleasure, that...].
