Manga at Borders.

Why? Oh, I dunno. But it's a pretty picture.

And I was curious to see if anyone would stop my random photoshoot. (Nope.)

You win a super-duper prize if you can guess which Borders (out of how many nationwide? ^^; ) this is. :P

I was just in the locals Borders Express, lamenting the fact that not enough smaller manga pubs are getting shelf space...and when I saw that they actually gave three shelves of space to friggen anime-dvd's, I was livid. Yeah, I guess there is no room for pubs who don't put out endless amount of multi-volume drivel. /rant.

And "smaller manga pubs" =...?

I must say that I'm delighted to report that this particular store is not stocking DMP's latest BL novels. I think we're learning from experience...

This store ODs on June titles. Some BLU, but it's mostly anything Narutarded, Death Notish, and Fruity Baskets. When I saw Anime DVDs there, where there's so limited shelf space, I was very cheesed.

:-D That is pretty. I love it. :) Sadly, not as cool as my local Barnes N Noble, where tis the season to be crawling over teens to get access to my manga that I want.

Any suggestions for manga I might like? Dramacon and Genshiken are done and I CAN STAND NO MORE GRAVITATION! I want to get a hold of From Eorica with Love but so far, no first and second volumes at my local bookstores. Should cave and buy.

I can't see you liking Eroica. ^^;;;

What are you in the mood for?
20th-Dec-2007 02:31 am (UTC)
I loved volume three. :)

Ummm. I would like something that you think I might like. You've been good so far. :) (Gravitation just went down hill by volume 5.)

Antique Bakery, Flower of Life, Basara, Banana Fish, GTO, Berserk, Peach Girl, Swan... *shrugs* There's random for you.

I would say the Bridgewater one... but I could be wrong. But I'm shocked there are no teenyboppers on the floor in this shot... the last time I was in a completely deserted manga aisle in a B&N or Borders was at least a year or two ago...

I would say the Bridgewater one...

Right in one. XD You know, I rarely see kids on the floor there; that's way more common in Watchung. (Think it has to do with how much more claustrophobic the Bridgewater store aisles feel.

Hey, does your cell accept pics? If so, text me your #. I've got something for you. ^_^

Pretty. Frankly I wish I could pick up US manga from a bookshop; it'd save weight in shipping.
20th-Dec-2007 05:26 am (UTC)
Heh. If you live in the US, you don't even need to use bookstores. Get 'em online, save yourself the state sales tax, and shipping if free. XD

Shouldn't you be in bed?^_~

It makes me happy to see all that pretty Saiyuki lined up there. My local stores don't tend to have all of them in at once, I've found.

Huh. *squints* Waddaya know? One copy of every volume. ^_^;

This particular Borders has always been my favorite. I dunno if someone with esoteric tastes returns books there, of if there's an employee there doing some unusual store-level ordering, but they have stuff no one else does.

I bought Reluctant Capitalists (book about the rise of the big box bookstores) there--the only Borders within 100 miles of me to stock it. Heh.

Actually, I think they're short a couple volumes of Reload, but close enough! I shouldn't be surprised at how easy it is to identify series by spine, I suppose, since that's why we pay our designers the big bucks (hah!), but I still am a little dismayed by how many I recognize instantly. (Peach Girl! Woo!)

That's hilarious about Reluctant Capitalists.
