In total, I read 341 texts and 86 comics and, as you can see, spent most of my time concentrating on the former. Most of the books I read were fiction, ranging from classics with instant name-recognition to children's and young adult books. Many fell into the sci-fi/fantasy genre, and many more would loosely be considered GLBT literature. I also have a strong preference for so-called "literary fiction." A lot of what I read on the comics side was Korean manhwa, an area in which I continue to cultivate especial interest.

Hey! I thought you read The Crimson Petal and the White? Or did you just make me suffer through it!? ^_^;
1st-Jan-2007 02:49 pm (UTC)
I did. Must've forgotten to add it to this list (it's been built non-stop all year) 'cause I didn't review it. :P
1st-Jan-2007 03:28 pm (UTC)
Now get to the review! ^_~
1st-Jan-2007 03:35 pm (UTC)
Not until YOU actually finish reading it!!!! XD
1st-Jan-2007 03:43 pm (UTC)
NOOOoooooooooo!!!!

I'd consider that cruel and unusual punishment >_< And besides, it's ruined because I already know how it ends ^_~
1st-Jan-2007 03:45 pm (UTC)
What does knowing how it ends have to do with anything?????
1st-Jan-2007 03:47 pm (UTC)
No more suspense? ^_^;;;

I think some editing could cut that monster down to 200 pages without losing anything of relevance ^^;;;
1st-Jan-2007 03:50 pm (UTC)
No more suspense?

That's a really lame reason for reading a good book, to say the least. :P
1st-Jan-2007 03:52 pm (UTC)
I couldn't stand the book!!! >_< I would never have gotten past the first chapter if not for the book club ^^;;
1st-Jan-2007 03:56 pm (UTC)
I thought personally that A Son Called Gabriel was my biggest mistake to allow into the club reading.
1st-Jan-2007 03:57 pm (UTC)
Guess I have to accept guilt for that one too ^^;;;
1st-Jan-2007 03:59 pm (UTC)
*laughs* But it was originally my idea. If I'd had any clue whatsoever it was so bad, I would never have put it on the list in the first place. I put a few Irish titles on there for you, you know.

We would've been better of with At Swim, Two Boys at that rate. *sighs*
1st-Jan-2007 04:04 pm (UTC)
I put a few Irish titles on there for you, you know.

Really? ^__^

Though usually I go for cultures I'm less familiar with ^_^;
1st-Jan-2007 04:05 pm (UTC)
Though usually I go for cultures I'm less familiar with

I had some of those on the list too, if I recall.
1st-Jan-2007 04:14 pm (UTC)
*laughs*

I figured I should be the one to select the Irish author ^_^;;
1st-Jan-2007 04:19 pm (UTC)
Why? I'VE read more Irish authors in the past year than you have. ^_~ Ethnic pride shouldn't factor into it.
1st-Jan-2007 05:20 pm (UTC)
It actually sounded like it might be good too ^_^;
1st-Jan-2007 10:35 pm (UTC)
I know. Like I said, I wouldn't have put it on the list otherwise. And it got recced in a magazine I read.
2nd-Jan-2007 05:33 am (UTC)
This is such an impressive list! I love reading your reviews and adding books you recommend onto my own reading list. :)
2nd-Jan-2007 05:34 am (UTC)
I'm glad you enjoy them. ^_^ Do you have anything to recommend to me?
