"In the city of my birth, I had a dream..."
6:00 am, and the polls are open on much of the East Coast!

Yo. US Citizens: You're going out to vote today, right? RIGHT~!?

(Dunno about you, but I'm gonna be watching this election with mixed excitement and dread.)

EDIT: There and back again. Most of it didn't matter since we're living in a safe Republican district, but there IS one of the few competitive senate races in the country to have my say in... ^_^

I'm not sure I even want to watch the returns.. And anyway, I'm just hoping things will go from very bad to just somewhat bad.. It's not like anything involving so many politicians can actually be good ^^;

The 21st century got really bad awfully quickly...so who's to say it can't get better just as fast? I live in hope. (It's all I have left, anyway. :P )

Hope is truly all we have left anymore ^^;;

At least I got free candy for voting, that's something good coming out of it anyway.......

*rolls eyes* I didn't get any candy! But then, I didn't get hassled either. No photo ID required, announce your presence, take three steps into voting booth, vote, end of story. No waiting, no nothing. But, of course, I live in an extremely safe Republican district, so who's gonna bother hassling me? :P

You know, the older the state the more democratic it seems to be.. Massachusetts is like you described for NJ, and every adult is allowed to vote.. In Florida, a newer state, you have to show ID and sign in, if you're in prison you can't vote, etc.. And of course they're always trying to add ways to prevent people from voting.. But at least we get candy ^_~

I didn't really have any wait though, never seem to here.. Well, there was a delay because the old guy in front of me had the shakiest hands ever and couldn't sign his name, but that's sort of an unofficial delay.... I was in and out within five minutes.....

This is a Republican area too, probably all the local people I voted for lost...

The only way you identify yourself in NJ is by countersigning against a copy of a signature they keep on the voting roll books.

This is a Republican area too, probably all the local people I voted for lost...

I already KNOW that's the case for me. :P By huge margins, on top of that.

We have to show ID and sign the book....

Well, the guy I voted for governor lost >_< Probably all the other related state ones too.. In two local elections only Republicans were even running! At least the one guy managed to beat off Randall Terry in the primary for state rep..

Not sure who won for the local Mosquito Control Board though ^_~
