Public Service Anouncement
22nd-Jul-2006 07:47 pm
To a certain person who left me a "Still Hate Me?" text message on July 18th (and who, I might add, I did not recognize immediately): The only place I still hate you--or, for that matter, have ever hated you--is in your own head. I make no apologies or excuses for any political views, nor do I expect any from you or anyone else. You never offended my sensibilities, but if I offended yours with entries I intended to be public on this LJ, well then I hope you'll just (as I do whenever I think a friend is over the top) shrug and move on.

I did shrug and move on, you stopped talking to me. :(

Maybe we haven't been talking 'cause our paths stopped intersecting so much? I haven't been frequenting AMLA or any of the usual forums lately, if that's what you mean--but that's not because you're there (I presume). :P The one time you left me a comment here in recent memory, I'm sure I responded. After you deleted the gynocrat_rex journal, I kinda lost track...I can be incurious like that. ^^; (In all honesty, I wasn't even completely sure who "tanderson" was until I happened to google "kethylia" and saw me mentioned at your new locale.)

In any case, as I suggested in the post above, there's no grudge being held on my side, so put your mind at ease. ^_^

Yeah, fallout from YP forced me to close that LJ. >_> Sorry. I have been busy too. I read your reviews though. Never stopped doing that! XD We were interviewed at Love Manga recently and one of the questions made me think of you.

I'm glad you're still ok, and still willing to shrug your shoulders at me! LOL!

That's the thing about online relationships and acquaintances--distractions so easily get in the way. >_< If not busy per se, I've been horribly "preoccupied" as of late. I won't go into it here (political views may be public but the banalities of my life get locked 'cause THAT I won't inflict on the innocent passerby), but if you're curious, check out friends-locked posts in May 2006.

Anyway, congrats on getting more things published! ^_^ Hey, did Dark Horse ever pan out to anything?
24th-Jul-2006 06:09 pm (UTC)
Well, Dark Horse gave us a review all right. (>_>) In the end they wanted something from us that we were good at [BL?] instead of something made for them. Yeah, I'm not bitter. We shot for saturn when we hadn't even colonized the moon yet, so there's still time! ^^

Yeah, I've been so busy I can't think. 0_0. I had a creative falling out with one publisher. It was bound to happen sooner or later. I was picked up by another and now Caroline and I have our own book coming out in May.

I'll be in two anthologies at Yaoicon this year, one is the debut primer from Iris Print; and the other is the new Drama Queen anthy called Rush.

Still running in Dangerous from Radio also, but wasn't in the last volume of that. ^_- Will be in the next one.

*blinks* Okay, color me really confused. They didn't want something "made for them"? Did they want to reprint something you'd already produced and then deemed what your completed portfolio inappropriate?

I've never heard of Iris Print before, but it's definitely cool to see you working with DQ. I spoke with them last year at Onnafest, and they have such commitment to print quality...it's too bad they haven't been able to penetrate the big box bookstores and refused to work with Diamond.

Yep...they wanted something like they saw in our FUTZ book. LOL! The advice was: stick with what you know, the yaoi, then come back to us when you've released a few titles. LOL!

Iris is very new. She's concentrating on novels and comics and I really like their stance on things. It's not about 'what will the yaoi fen buy' it's more about, let's get some quality out there and bring in fans who aren't completely into 'yaoi'.

Let you in on a secret...DQ is coming. *don't say nuthin!*

And what exactly, pray tell, constitutes "releasing a few titles"? ^^; Not self-published stuff, I take it, but pro ones? Nothing like someone who's only interested in you once you've made the big time...

24th-Jul-2006 09:48 pm (UTC)
LOL! Yep, so that's what we're doing. We'll be back. Like that dude at the bar who just hits on you no matter how many times you say no. 0_0

I dunno...*grimaces* If they're gonna be like that, it might not be worth it. (Unless publishing with Dark Horse is still a fixed fantasy from the getgo.) The paper quality of Dark Horse's offering have really degraded over the past few years, and plenty of other publishers have lined up to pick up increased demand. One of DC's imprints would seem like an awesome place for you to be, as well...
