"In the city of my birth, I had a dream..."
Quote of the Day (I think we're still waiting for Bush's AH-HA! moment... ^^;; )

There are those who have for centuries been preaching the benefits of not thinking terribly hard, Zen Buddhists and certain U.S. presidents among them. - Bruno Maddox, "What Were We Thinking?", Discover May 2006

I protest! That's an insult to Zen buddhists!^_^

Man, I spoke to a Zen Buddhist priest once, and it TOTALLY rocked my world. Others do the thinking for Bush. It's not the same way for Zen Buddhists.

Can't take a joke, eh? ^_~

I just think it's a huge insult to Zen Buddhists. :'(
13th-Apr-2006 01:26 pm (UTC)
Well, it's not. And I wrote a senior thesis involving Zen epistemology. So trust me. ^_^

Nah, it's only an insult to Bush. Not thinking too hard for a Zen Buddhist is a virtue; for Bush, it's a dirty secret. XD

Oh well then^_^

For someone who doesn't think too hard, those buddhists have lots of published papers on philosophy. I tried reading one of them but 5 pages later and my head hurt^^

*philosophy fan grins* Eastern Thought and Western absolutism operate from opposite epistemological starting points. It all does *nods* get very esoteric at scholarly levels.

Anyway, the article I'm quoting discusses how it's been proven that conscious thought is better for simple decisions and intuition better for complex ones.

I like philosophy well enough but sometimes it goes higher and higher and you either hit an invisible ceiling or it starts sounding like a madman's thoughts^^

I'm a pragmatic. If knowledge cannot be applied/does not have a use, I don't need to know. ^_^;

I like what-ifs^^ But there comes a limit to what you can imagine. Though my philosophy professor gave me an A- and said she wished she had more students who wanted to discuss like me.

I didn't tell her that I usually went back home to drink tea or coffee after her lectures^_^

Wouldn't that be a contradiction, "Bush thinks"?
12th-Apr-2006 02:07 pm (UTC)
We should be grateful he hasn't converted to Zen Buddhism; we can at least presume that, as it is, he tries on occasion. :P
12th-Apr-2006 02:09 pm (UTC)
maybe Cheney should. he's not doing much anyway.
12th-Apr-2006 02:12 pm (UTC)
It might make Cheney less dangerous. He's the schemer of the bunch...
