"In the city of my birth, I had a dream..."
Well, at least I had time to go shopping for books last night... (^^;;

Leave it to yours truly to find time to shop for books (even as she agrees reluctantly to pass on that giant, vertical slingshot) in one of the vacation capitals of world. Of course, pretty much every nationally-recognized chain bookstore is represented here, sometimes in triplicate, but that doesn't interest me. National Book Warehouse, on the other hand... XD

I picked up the following last night:
Let It Come Down by Paul Bowles - trade paperback
Coraline by Neil Gaiman - paperback
Call Me by P-P Hartnett - trade paperback, Stonewall Inn edition
The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith - trade paperback
Back to Barbary Lane: The Tales of the City Omnibus Volume II by Armistead Maupin - hardcover, out-of-print
Air by Geoff Ryman - trade paperback; *weeps* I was only a few days away from buying this one new!

If you didn't shop for books, I'd be very worried^_~

Vertical slingshot? I have a hard time imagining this.

You go flying like 20 storeys in the air in five seconds or so attached to two big elastic cords. XD Looked so FUN...

Did you try it?
3rd-Apr-2006 02:22 am (UTC)
Of course not. :P My mother wouldn't go near it.
3rd-Apr-2006 02:26 am (UTC)
I wouldn't either even if they paid me^^

*pouts* No one's any fun...

Well, at least you'd do the bookstores with me. I hit a used bookstore today, but it wasn't all that great (though I did end up with a few books once belonging to one gay guy). Ah well.

I'd go! ^__^ I went on the roller coaster which held the record (at the moment) for being the steepest and fastest in the world.. And when we were kids, me and my youngest sister went on Lightning Loops at Great Adventure (err, Six Flags) ten times in a row ^__^

I've never even BEEN on any serious rollercoaster 'cause no one I ever vacation with will even go NEAR 'em...

And when we were kids, me and my youngest sister went on Lightning Loops at Great Adventure (err, Six Flags) ten times in a row

That's how you get brain damage. :P

Funny, I don't remember any brain damage ^_~
3rd-Apr-2006 09:01 pm (UTC)
*laughs* You wouldn't remember if it occurred now would you?^_~

And you know, if you can get brain damage from roller coasters, I should think you could get it from gigantic slingshots too ^_^;;

Hey, I simply prefer to remain in one piece^_^

What? He sold his entire collection?

What? He sold his entire collection?

How would I know? ^^; He was definitely weeding, though; they were all either gay fiction or gay studies, though, and none of them were very new.

Because you were there?^_^

Any interesting books in his pile?

Because you were there?^_^

I repeat: How would I know? I didn't meet him and certainly didn't see the contents of his bookshelves at home. All I saw was what he left behind in the bookstore. :P

Any interesting books in his pile?

Mostly stuff I'd either read or wasn't interested in reading. I'll put up a list shortly. ^_~

He wrote his name in a lot of the books, which of course made them less appealing to me.
