You go into a used bookstore looking for two classic distopian novels you need for your Science Fiction class and come out more than an hour later with ten books that AREN'T what you went in there for. (>_<)

Here's a list of the goodies:

-Double Exposure by Piers Anthony* - Omnibus that contains Split Infinity, Blue Adept, and Juxtaposition.
-Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin - A tiny paperback printed way back in 1964. Yet, it is in amazingly good condition.
-Brothers of Earth by C. J. Cherryh* - Read this one in Korea, and it is excellent. I plan to send my duplicate copy to ariss_tenoh, who I think will appreciate the slashy elements. ^_~
-Hunter of Worlds by C. J. Cherryh*
-Merchanter's Luck by C. J. Cherryh*
-Serpent's Reach by C. J. Cherryh*
-The Guin Saga Book One: The Leopard Mask by Kaoru Kurimoto - Oh my God, I had no idea that these books were being translated into English! I have some of Kurimoto's doujinshi! Published by Vertical, of course.
-Dark Dance by Tanith Lee*
-The Gorgon and Other Beastly Tales by Tanith Lee*
-The Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey* - Omnibus that contains Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and The White Dragon.

*Book Club Editions (hardcover) for which I paid $3 each

It's probably good that Chapter One Books is the only used bookstore near me. If I were living in NYC or something...that's like giving a junkie the tools to make her own heroin. (^^;;;

There are no used bookshops near me, for which I thank many different gods. There's a fantastic chain of used bookstores in Tucson, each about the size of a Walmart that I spend hours in every time I visit my family out there. I need to remember to bring an empty suitcase next time...

Out of curiosity, what were the two books you were actually looking for?

Used bookstore the size of Walmart? *orgasms* Good thing they don't have any of those around me...

No, the one I frequent is this little firetrap of a storefront, books piled four layers deep in places. A digger's paradise.

Out of curiosity, what were the two books you were actually looking for?

*laughs* 1984 and Brave New World. Of which I already own both...except they're packed away God Knows Where, so I need to buy them again. Doesn't that figure? It's happened to me a couple of times already...

I've ended up with three and four copies of the same books at times because of that...which go right back to the used book store for credit, once I discover the error. ^_^;;

I'm not going to be able to do that, truly, until all of my books are unpacked...which just *might* happen sometime this century, at this rate. *winces*

*nods* I was quite pleased by the selection. And the books were in reasonably good condition, too! ^_^

She even had an out-of-print Storm Constantine book for $3, but I have it already. :P

Ooooo...which one? I don't have half the books of hers I want.

It's the first book of the Grigori Trilogy. Whatever the title of that one was. ^^;
