And not an hour after stumbling off the National Express bus in front of Parker's Piece here in Cambridge last Tuesday, I was back on the term-time treadmill. *argh* So apologies for not updating sooner...but I'm sure that anybody who cares has figured out by now that I made it back to the UK in (more or less) one piece. >_<
As for the conference, well, it was pretty much what you'd expect those huge conferences to be. Major trial of endurance, moderate intellectual stimulation, aerobic networking exercises. About ten people attended my presentation (not half bad for a paper session scheduled against lunchtime), and I was able to throw the modest amount of cash received in tandem with the student paper award toward a modest amount of college-town entertainment in the environs of Northwestern on Sunday. Warmest shout-outs to everybody whom I met--for the first time or otherwise! And I'm so, so glad that I got to see ali_chino
again--plus, she deserves a standing ovation (or thirty) for literally giving up her bed to board me for the long weekend!
Oh yeah, my American cell phone died the first full day in
. *argh x 2* So much for catch-up phone calling...
In any case, my supervisor (whom I ran into not two
hours after stumbling off the bus *argh x 3*) has told me in no uncertain terms than I should keep attending the NCA conference. Uhh...roger. Guess that means I'll see y'all in San Francisco next year!
